i would expect bitcoin hashrate to continue to climb for a while, especially driven by the advancements in energy efficiency and the pioneering new ways to use formerly wasted energy.
there really is no positive scenario where energy usage goes down for the entirety of society for the foreseeable future. that is because only energy usage can raise up poorer countries. and unless we encounter a new dark age where technological and social evolution goes dramatically backwards, then energy usage for the entire world will continue to climb despite the best efforts of hysterical climate death cult worshipers whose only hope is a continuous reoccurance of “accidental” virus releases, world war, or other crises govt can use as a pretext to lock everyone down. but i suspect this game’s effectiveness and therefore utility will quickly see diminishing returns. although unfortunately millions more will die as they continue to try to enact their flawed and evil logic, destroying and hurting exactly those people who they claim to want to help.
