This is misinformation though… his data may be factual but the last sentence is not.

Inflation was pretty normal until the last year but Bitcoin is down 48.82% from 1 year ago.

Therefore, in the context of the tweet, bitcoin would not have saved you from Canada’s inflation in the last year.

Going back to when Justin became prime minister just heavily skews the data to bitcoins favor because we went through a huge bull market.

To be fair he was calling it irresponsible of leadership to encourage BTC as hedging inflation.

A leader of a country shouldn’t be in the position of having to have it’s people do such alternatives. And while yes Canada has inflation, so to does much of the world. To forecast BTC investment as an economic response to a country’s inflation problem is irresponsible of leadership, even if it would functionally work for the majority.

Especially when those investing in BTC tend to keep it in BTC, which would extract money from the economy. If the opposition party that he was responding to was proposing adopting BTC as a national currency then sure, we’d be on to something. Get paid in, invest in, spend with, utilize within the country. But just buying and holding en masse as a country would slow our economy down even further than it is.

See how much of a push there is justifying censorship?
See how little energy it takes to suggest resistance, create the impression of online majority? Tempting for those with power, isn’t it?
See how the debate totally ignores the real question? Not if this is true or false, but rather why in the name of god not let the man speak his mind? What are you turd-eau loving fanboys so obsessed about? Guy is creating chinada and you all attacking those looking to speak their mind. You’re either too stupid to realize or you in on it.

Opting out of inflation means buying into BTC NOW, not way back when. And yes, its not very responsible suggesting a buy in now on a broad scale by a government, right El Salvador?

While most people are seeing this as a political issue – I have a **massive** issue with social media ‘censoring’ or labeling posts as ‘false information’. Fact checkers get many things wrong and often push their *political biases*.

Let’s do a quick fact check here.

“Bitcoin was $400 CAD when Trudeau became Prime Minister. ”

    Bitcoin hit $[450 USD](https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2015/11/04/bitcoin-price-hits-450-for-the-first-time-in-2015/) on [November 4, 2015 when Trudeau became PM](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justin_Trudeau).

“Trudeau says it’s irresponsible to advocate Canadians opt out of inflation with Bitcoin”

Trudeau seems to be using Bitcoin to [attack his opposition](https://finance.yahoo.com/news/canadian-pm-justin-trudeau-attacks-140647059.html) as well as the [trucker movement](https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/currencies/canada-truck-protestors-crypto-fundraising-emergencies-act-justin-trudeau-bitcoin-2022-2).

    >Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Attacks Opposition for Recommending Bitcoin as Inflation Hedge. ([link](https://finance.yahoo.com/news/canadian-pm-justin-trudeau-attacks-140647059.html))

“BTC is now $28,000 CAD, a 70X increase.”

    Current BTC price is $[26,809.96 CAD](https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/quote/BTC-CAD/) as of when I’ve published this. $[450 USD](https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2015/11/04/bitcoin-price-hits-450-for-the-first-time-in-2015/) to $[20,370.59 USD](https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/quote/BTC-USD/) is a 44.27x increase.

“A 0.5 % allocation to BTC would have protected you from Trudeau’s *irresponsible leadership*.”

I personally have recommended some friends to invest 1-5% of their net worth in crypto from many many years ago. Switching an inflationary currency to a deflationary one is a no brainer in the hyper-inflation world we’re living in.

“*irresponsible leadership*” You should remove any politically inflammatory text if you want to argue facts and data to people, as this statement is very subjective. Bitcoin isn’t political, and I ***hate*** mixing politics with Bitcoin (as do many of the long-term Bitcoiners).

    I’d give you a score of 7.5/10. Mostly true/accurate.

Why are you blaming inflation solely on Trudeau, out of curiosity?

This is a *worldwide* phenomenon. Every Western country is experiencing it right now, and a lot is due to commodity price increases and supply chain issues. But you’re gonna pin Canada’s inflation entirely on him? On what basis lol
