I’m surprised you Americans know him as “Baghdad Bob”.
In the U.K. he was always known as **”Comical Ali”** for his insane press conferences where he’d confidently tell the world’s media that the “American infidels are fleeing the battle scene in their thousands.” Meanwhile Baghdad was on fire behind him and when questioned on it, he’d deny everything.
The guy knew if he didn’t talk bullshit then Saddam would have had him executed. You can see the press conferences on YouTube they are ridiculous.
The nickname “Comical Ali” is a play on another Saddam era lackey called “Chemical Ali” who gassed thousands of Kurds in the 80s.
