If you do a comparison like this you should be using percentages. Price for everything starts at 100% and than you can see what happens.
With this scale you can’t easily see if wheat outperformed bitcoin or not. The start and end points might also influence the comparison a lot.
Priced in USD, lumber went from $300 to $1700 and back to $300. Priced in BTC, it went from â‚¿0.03 to â‚¿0.025 and lower: â‚¿0.015.
Normally when I think of bitcoin as deflationary I only compare it to the dollar.
This point of view makes more sense. And also kind of easier to understand why it’s a way to fight inflation.
