    I’ve been working on crafting the best meme to encapsulate “The corporatization of money”, the ability for corporate marketers to print money to enrich themselves as opposed to the promise of the denationalization and unwaveringly fair ruleset of Bitcoin in a single image that hits home at a first glace. Maybe it simply can’t be done right now, and some major messaging needs to take place first, but nonetheless this is a good attempt at it and the message is important to spread.

    I like the scarfs, I think that says it all. Proof of work is a meritocracy. Proof of stake is a plutocracy.

    They’re nowhere near equal.

    A good analogy is;

    Proof of Stake = Fiat money

    Proof of Work = Gold

    Guess which one is causing complete chaos right now.

    Now imagine someone who just buys machines to do the work.

    It’s basically the same picture.

    I heard an interesting argument about economies of scale where in those who invest the most in mining will be rewarded more and grow to a larger size. This will allow them to out spend the competition resulting in a centralizing force. What’s the other side to this argument?

    If proof of work is truly a working person it would be limited. Unfortunately only the rich can really afford to do it

    Nope, this is feeding their argument because in this example (according to them) the “proof of work” is just the fat cat plutocrat purchasing labor instead of staking.

    The graphic should be ONE fat cat versus millions of workers.

    And it isn’t “meritocracy” it is democracy. Meritocracy would be that some billionaire has more merit because they can just buy hashrate. Democracy is that the chain is verifiable by anyone running a node.

    This is mixing up two major concerns: verification and production.
