I withdrew bitcoin a few hours ago. I was getting an error yesterday but it looks like they’ve sorted the problem out.

There is no shortage of reminders, but it seems that some people still need them: never leave your BTC on an exchange platform.

You only own the Bitcoin for which you have the private keys…

I don’t understand why people chase 3% yield and introduce counter party risk when just holding bitcoin appreciates 200% annually on average. It’s not worth it folks. Secure your own digital assets and never have to worry about these collapsing unregulated banks.

FWIW, I withdrew BTC from FTX this morning wihtout issues. It did take 8 hours to process but eventually it came through. This might be expected if the exchange holds most of its BTC in cold storage and needs some time to free up those funds for withdrawal.

That being said, I obviously don’t know what’s going on in the background.

I was having weird issues on CBP this past weekend where my BTC was showing the amount but the value was not being reflected in my portfolio. It would just disappear and then randomly pop up briefly again and then disappear. What is the safest way to vacate from CBP to gain custody

I find it hard to believe that SBF and someone of his character would run a business that is insolvent. He has been quiet for a while now ever since these rumors popped up.

The only thing I can think of as a logical explanation for what is happening now is that most exchanges only keep 5-10% of their total holdings on the actual exchange / exchange’s hot wallets for security reasons. Mt Gox kept it all on the exchange and we know how that ended…

So when you move your coins to cold storage, how do you spend them without an exchange?

FTX is the most compliant, more compliant than Coinbase, with US regulators. I’d be amazed if they rug pulled.

Is this because of platforms with staking? Presumably, staking ties up the BTC and it is harder to withdraw?

What trading platforms is this happening on?
