  true enough. booms and busts would supposedly happen regardless (and happened on a gold standard). Minsky postulated the reason was that “stability breeds instability.” In other words, people that are doing well get greedy and overspend and borrow, etc. the roaring 20s. (the last one.)

  but then governments love the part where they claim they can get everyone out of the mess with this or that “stimulus” trick.

  I suspect that with a global, limited currency, we’d have booms and busts but couldn’t do much about it except let the risk takers feel the burn of failure. a lot less speculation I’d think.

  except your government will always threaten you. and your neighbor will always expect you to bail them out.
