Roger Ver, self styled “Bitcoin Jesus”, is a convicted felon well known in the industry for promoting ponzis such has Bitclub, a billion dollar scale ponzi whos operators have recently been being indicted and convicted.
Recently Ver has been in the news related to reports that he caused the insolvency of altcoin exchange CoinFLEX due to a failure to pay $47 Million dollars in debt created through a secret unlimited margin account on their platform which he was using to purchase BCH (presumably manipulating the price). He’s also recently in the news over reports that he refuses to repay $21 million dollars to financially troubled genesis trading, presumably related to additional uncollateralized market manipulation.
Roger Ver purchased rbtc and then made employees of his company the moderators of the subreddit. Subsequently the subreddit has been used to spread disinformation about Bitcoin and promote competing systems which Ver and his company invested in or created outright. Several of Ver’s employee moderators have been banned site wide as a result of their sustained harassment and abuse, but Ver and his staff still retain control of the subreddit. Purchasing subreddits is explicitly against policy, but Ver’s scams have been very profitable and the kind of person that [can buy himself an ambassadorship](https://citizenshipbyinvestment.ch/index.php/2020/08/21/antigua-nominating-roger-ver-as-non-resident-envoy-to-japan/) to escape prosecution probably isn’t really too worried about Reddit policy.
“Jessquit2” in the image is one of the moderators of the subreddit and in the image you can see him admit that they have a vested interest in disrupting their subreddit’s namesake, noting that there is significant funding available to do so.
Roger always conveniently ignores majority consensus and tries to define Bitcoin as something it is not in order to trick/scam new people coming into this space.
The owner of Reddit is a shitcoiner. I’m not surprised he is a fan of diluting Bitcoins image.
